HERE’S A FEW MORE BRILLIANT PINOTS FOR LESS THAN $20
All the world knows that New Zealand is the next great country for Pinot Noir, but you hear less about Australia’s ability to delight the Pinot fan. In a recent post on my visit to the Yarry Valley I mentioned the De Bortoli winery as a source of Pinot at reasonable prices. And crafted in the tangy, dry Italian spirit. Not a trace of the prettiness usually found in New World Pinots. Really appetizing stuff with an everyday feeling. Lightly chill.
Clos Henry’s wine comes across like adult Beaujolais. Fun but some roots. Lightly chilled it is dangerously gulpable. A great example of what New Zealand has to offer with Pinot.
