When I looked up my notes on this wine from a visit to Torres in the spring they read “not typical Rioja, more earthy, less spicy than usual”. Tasting the wine again, I’m reminded of how many Torres reds remind me of Burgundy, or Barolo ““ my favourite earthy, slightly bitter streak. And in this case there’s some mature dusty, dryness. Quite the show for fifteen dollars. Best with slow-paced hearty dinners, and company that enjoys old-world-style reds. Or fireside sipping with a heavy book.
