The light, cheerful feeling in Pinot Noir makes it the no-brainer red choice for the Christmas season, and the big dinner. White meats love Pinot’s fruity/sweet flavours.
Chile’s warm climate pushes Pinot into a mid-weight, and Cono Sur’s wine is a World Champion for value. You cannot fail. My local choices are in the light style ““ similar to the Gamays, so chill these also. Charm and easy-drinking are the features in Stoney Ridge. The smoothness and slight sweetness are sure to please.
Flat Rock is a bit of a splurge but what beautiful pure flavours. The Pinot flavor/feeling is something you can get addicted to ““ like a perfume, or Fall strolls in a wood. It’s fleeting, and haunting. Flat Rock’s wine offers these qualities along with the vibrant and fun feeling of Beaujolais. A wonderful palate teaser for early in the evening, or with snacks. Lightly chilled of course.
