LOVIN’ THE PALER SHADE OF PERIQUITA
Last September our Lisbon group tasted Periquita White at the winery and were excited to hear it was headed to the LCBO. And here it is. One sip and you’ll why we all loved it. Expect a mix of Sauvignon zest, and Pinot Grigio gulpability ““ the perfect house white. At the perfect price.
JOSE MARIA DA FONSECA 13 “˜Periquita’ White, Setubal, Portugal 377127 $8.80
I’m constantly amazed by the number of great wines available at the LCBO for under $10, and this is another example. I can’t honestly say I prefer it to the Cavallina Grillo Pinot Grigio, the La Croix D’Azur Sauvignon Blanc, the Fetzer White Oaks Pinot Grigio or the Cono Sur Reserva Especial Chardonnay (all previous recommended by Billy) but I whiled away the better part of a sunny Sunday afternoon with it while I watched the Duchess removing expired coupons from her purse to the strains of Van Morrison’s Moondance album.
Here here Roddy! Thanks for your comments. I’ve heard recently about $22 glasses of wine at restaurants…not including tax and tip.
