Sauvignon Season!

sauvignonWhen local asparagus starts popping out of the ground, I begin stocking the fridge with Sauvignon Blanc. They’re kindred spirits in freshness, and a “˜spring feeling’.

While there’s lots of great value Sauvignon available, I thought why not start the season with the pair of New Zealand icons below. Besides checking out their new vintage I wanted to see if there was much difference in these wines. And there is.

Stoneleigh delivers wonderful freshness and mineral coldness. Think vitality of spring water. A wild thing ““ cool chic character. Exuberant as in fast car. An adventure. It’s low-flavoured which is not a bad thing in the “˜refreshing’ category of wines. There’s just enough herbaceous flavour to tease the taste buds and invite food.

Villa Maria feels bigger. More lush and flavourful ““ sure to be the crowd favourite on first impressions. Riper fruit with some tropical flavours. The love child! Flirts between refreshment and seduction.
