I’ve supported Henry’s Baco since day one. Wasn’t easy to convince people to drink a tart red delivered with the charm of a biker! But there are masochists even in wine drinking circles, and over the years other adventuresome folks joined in and the wine developed a cult following. Henry’s Baco became the “˜alternative’ local red. It has won people over by daring to be different. Baco has a lot of the Italian bitter gene, (even if it’s origins are French), so it challenges you. Puckers the mouth and says things like “˜where is my burger.’ It’s the kind of wine you just might love, even if you don’t like it. A bit like Canadian winters.
Henry’s 2013 is a lot less scary than most previous vintages. Which is a good thing because we live in an era with little tolerance for “˜strange’. But don’t think it might work for your daughters wedding. However, for all I know she may be marrying a biker.
