I’ve supported Henry’s Baco since day one. Wasn’t easy to convince people to drink a tart red delivered with the charm of a biker! But there are masochists even in wine drinking circles, and over the years other adventuresome folks joined in and the wine developed a cult following. Henry’s Baco became the ‘alternative’ local red. It has won people over by daring to be different. Baco has a lot of the Italian bitter gene, (even if it’s origins are French), so it challenges you. Puckers the mouth and says things like ‘where is my burger.’ It’s the kind of wine you just might love, even if you don’t like it. A bit like Canadian winters.
Henry’s 2013 is a lot less scary than most previous vintages. Which is a good thing because we live in an era with little tolerance for ‘strange’. But don’t think it might work for your daughters wedding. However, for all I know she may be marrying a biker.
