In response to those who asked for my opinion on the ‘100 point’ Faustino Rioja 2001 (#976662 $35.95) coming to Vintages this Saturday, (scoring controversy aside) I think it would be a delicious fireside sipper. Mellow, mature and loaded with sweet vanilla flavours from the oak cask. Definitely an end of evening drink. Not far removed from Tawny Port. Worth the splurge, if only to experience an old Rioja.
