December Drinking Tip #2: PICK-ME-UP/REFRESHER/APERITIF
After a hard day tweeting, skipping, faxing, phoning, emailing, conferencing and whatever else we do these days, I’m ready for a blast of high energy, dry white wine. Skuttlebut is working really well for me because not only do I get lots of refreshment, but the savoury/mineral flavours do a great job getting the taste buds in gear for supper. Hence the header of refresher/aperitif. But should you buy this wine for the Holidays?
Of course. It’s the perfect pick-me-up between meals, parties, family rows and more meals. Or starter wine for any event. If Perrier made a wine Skutlebutt would be it. Get the idea!
We usually associate Australia with rich Chards but this guy is from a cool region in the west of the country called Margaret River. Your wine geeky relatives will appreciate this nugget of information. Even if they hate the fun label.
STELLA BELLA “˜Skuttlebut’ 08 Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon, Margaret River, Australia 157867 $14.95
P.S. A budget edition of this experience is Jacob’s Creek Semillon/Chardonnay, also from Australia (#219105 $11.25). More about Jacob’s Creek in another posting.
