50 YEARS OF CAMPOFIORIN
I cannot claim to remember the first, but I’ve being enjoying Campofiorin for half of its historic life. It was the original Ripasso, and created a confidence in Italian reds. Also I always felt it was, and still is reasonably priced.
I love the old-fashioned red wine character – the dryness, the earthy/heartwarming flavours, the sense of mystery. As opposed to up-front fruity niceness. The rustic, hearty character feels really good at this time of year. Think manly, mature and needing the meat. Campofiorin is crafted for the dinner table – it would be hugely inappropriate for party sipping.
