A STUNNING RED VALUE FROM PORTUGAL
I love how Portugal keeps doing its own thing with indigenous grapes and wine styles. Instead of showering the market with more unwanted Cab and Shiraz it tempts us with red grapes such as Castelao and Aragonez. Marketers would say they are crazy, but I think they are on the right track. Especially when they can deliver reds such as JP. Shades of an Abruzzi ““ delivering a mix of rustic, traditional
character along with rich feelings. Appetizing food partner, but also crowd-pleasing enough for party sloshing.
Bacalhoa Wines was founded in 1922 under the designation of Joao Pires & Sons ““ hence the JP brand. It’s located just south of Lisbon, close to Jose Maria da Fonseca, producers of the long standing Periquita.

Talk about bang for your buck! This is a keeper.
(Yeah, who am I kidding? I wasn’t even able to keep it for an evening… but I will get more.)
