Ontario’s Missed Opportunity

Late Harvest Vidal is one of Ontario’s most delightful wines, but the industry doesn’t seem to be interested in making or promoting it. It offers an exciting mix of peachy flavour and refreshing zest. While
there is usually a little sweetness, it’s not the main feature ““ just something that adds to the overall appeal of the wine. While several countries are currently wowing drinkers with Moscato, Ontario could be doing the same with Vidal. Especially if it was put it in a regular style bottle and not the tall, skinny fall-over, icewine-shape. Vidal is a hybrid grape ““ easy and inexpensive to grow. So why are we not doing it?

A good time to have your first glass of Late Harvest (LH for short) is mid- afternoon on a summer’s day. Or with a weekend brunch, or with chicken or pork dishes. Non drinkers love it when offered a “˜little
glass’ of LH.
