While browsing the Italian red section at my local, a customer asked if I could help him find “Adesso.” Had to admit I was not familiar with that name, but was able to find it, and my fellow shopper offered “thanks” and moved on. Turns out that Odesso is a re-branding of Cesari’s Merlot, a longtime LCBO “˜great value’. And a house red at some Top TO restaurants.
Forget Merlot’s reputation for rich “˜n smooth, Cesari’s wine is classic Italian tart, with lots of pucker and moderate alcohol. You have to like gutsy. Which of course is the perfect partner for Italy’s world of tomato-sauced dishes. Get some ““ at this price you can’t loose.
