In the higher price range I recommend VEEDHA from the Douro ““ a medium-bodied red with a good-with-everything character. Could be likened to Bordeaux (the model for many Douro reds) and definitely in the traditional bistro style. And fans of big, deep flavoured reds will love QUINTA DA REDE. Also from the Douro, but this guy has the very ripe flavours of the Rhone. Solid, manly stuff for winter meals of grilled or roasted red meats. From a decanter, it will feel like a $50 wine. Could be aged a year or three.
