Local Asparagus Season

monkeybayThey’re up, they’re in the stores and they’re at your local market. Home-grown asparagus is one of my favourite local produce and it tastes even better with a BIG GLASS OF ZESTY SAUVIGNON BLANC! The vegetable and wine seem to share the same DNA! Honest. Crunchy, green freshness.

Normally I would be suggesting local wine with local asparagus. But the the current 07 crop is short on zest. No such problem with the New Zealand Monkey Bay ““ it’s loaded with zesty green freshness. A real blast. It was one of my faves at the recent New Zealand Wine Fair. More about that later.

MONKEY BAY 08 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, N.Z. 620062 $14.25
