In Praise of ‘Plain’

PeleeChardonnayToday’s fondness for non-oaked Chardonnay is a throw back to a few decades ago when white wines were a lot simpler. A lot more plain. We need plain again today to balance all the glitz in our world. Plain as a way of turning down the volume, of chilling. And for some, plain is all they can handle.

Pinot Grigio is the current champion of plain, but non-oaked Chardonnay is catching up. While there is not a huge difference in these wines, Chardonnay is usually on the smooth side (golden delicious apple) while PG ltends to the lively, crunchy (as in green apple).

Pelee’s wine could not be more friendly ““ an joy to drink. Perfect fridge door and party pour. The magnum size converts to less than $9 a bottle.
