THE SEASON FOR GRIGIO
Liveliness, and friendliness are the main features of my Holiday white picks. Wines that delight will create a bigger impression than those with big egos. Pleasing is more important than impressing. Tis the season to roll out good Pinot Grigio, and a few local delights. All value priced, as party goers are more into drinking than savouring. My picks over the next week are listed by country so they’re easy to locate in the store.

ARGENTINA/CHILE ““ REALLY GOOD GRIGIO
Pinot Grigio is usually crowd-pleasing and a bit plain ““ the wine equivalent of easy listening music. However, some producers push the envelope and substitute personality for plain. Graffigna has always been at the top of my Grigio list and the current vintage has a little extra zing to partner the slight richness. Perfect house wine for Holiday entertaining. Newly arrived Cono Sur delivers PG with delicious fruitiness and charm. The potential to not just like, but love. And the potential to be the white wine hit of the year.
