Many years ago California introduced a style of Cabernet that went right to the top of the charts. Traditionally Cabernet was a somewhat hard/manly red best softened by the protein in hunks of red meat, but warm climate California delivered a riper, richer, sweeter, softer edition. The easier-to-like Hollywood movie over the Euro edition. The only downside is the price is usually well above everyday.
The wine below is typical Californian Cabernet â€“ attractive ripe fruitiness, richness and lushness, not to mention yummy drinkability, and itâ€™s on sale. It would be an excellent partner for most of todayâ€™s popular hot/spicy foods. Also, it would be an impressive hostess gift â€“ heavy bottle and classy label. Of course, thereâ€™s no need to mention you got it on sale!Â
