Good Stinky Pinot

AngelsGateFans of “˜farmyard’ Pinot should check-out this guy. Very “˜backroads bistro’, and reasonably priced. Moderate alcohol invites generous drinking. Nice Winter Sunday Supper feeling. And it’s local. Winemaker Philip Dowell crafts very Euro-style wines, at reasonable prices.

  • Funny, tried this last night and found it very thin-tasting. I know it’s not supposed to be a big, rich wine but I didn’t find a lot to enjoy here. Had it with a nice bean/swiss chard pasta which should have been a good fit?

    • Hi Gianmarco, some foods can make a light red taste ‘tin’ and unappealing. Especially sauces. Light reds are best with simply grilled, roasted meats, sandwiches, and of course a burger.

Did you have some of the wine before eating? This is how I best enjoy the refreshing (and light) side of Pinots and Gamays. Recorking, and switching to fuller reds with food. We like more than one tune to get us through the evening, ditto with wine.

      Thanks for reading and writing.
