Long-aged wines such as Gran Reservas are often past their prime, but not this one. It’s oooozing charm, hitting all the right notes making you want more, and more, and more. I like how there’s enough tang to refresh between bottles ““ I mean sips, and there’s a delicacy uncommon in Spanish reds ““ magic without heavy richness. You’d have to be pretty hard-hearted, not to be seduced by this wine. And the sale price.

ANCIANO 09 Tempranillo Gran Reserva, Valdepenas, Spain
