FRANCE IS OFFERING GREAT VALUE – SUCH AS THIS EVERYDAY RED
If there is one piece of news missing in today’s wine journals it is the value to be found in French wines. No, I don’t mean the fancy Grand Crus, but the everyday stuff, such as this Rhone red.
Cellier des Dauphins is an LCBO oldie-goldie that’s found new vitality. I love the combination of bright flavours and refreshment. And the honest-to-goodness bistro feeling. Forget the yummy richness of most red Rhones – this is gutsy, tangy and invigorating. Really good gulping stuff – at a gulping price. Lightly chill. I like to decant into a clear glass bottle because I find the dark, black label to be at odds with the bright, fun spirit of the wine.
