A decade ago, I was critical of Italian red wines as they appeared to be crafting for the North American audience. As in overly rich and smooth. Speaking with producers their response was “we have to do this to get a high score, otherwise our distributors won’t buy”. Lately I’m seeing some movement back to a more traditional style – less rich and smooth – less high-score focused. The Chianti below is the real Italian – delivering the gusto life, and more. Love it.
