Changes in the Douro

TONSYou are going to be, (or have already have been) hearing a lot about red wines from the Douro region in Portugal. This was traditionally the home of Port, but savvy producers are off-setting the declining market for Port by converting some of their energies to the production of red table wines. Often resulting in reds with the type of concentration we associate with Argentina or Chile. And the same great value.

Dourum could loosely be described as Portugal’s answer to Cabernet/Merlot blends. A solid, semi-serious red with a little sex appeal. Semi rich and suited to a broad range of foods. And more for food than party sloshing.

DOURUM 11 Douro “˜Tons’, Portugal 369629 $12.30

P.S. Coming home today from our PORTUGAL TOUR. Awesome!!! Next year we’re going to add three days in the fantastic city of PORTO. Join us!
