I’ve been drinking Cave’s Gamay ever since the winery opened and have to say it’s been an wonderful ride. Early vintages had the fruitiness/tartness of Beaujolais, and I recall a chefs’ lunch where it was pronounced to be the best partner for alfresco meals. More recent vintages became earthy/tangy Barberaish in feeling ““ which is a common trait in Niagara Gamay. The 2012 vintage is still in the Italian camp, but this time with the more gentle feeling of Valpolicella. Excellent general purpose wine that will flirt with pizza, pork loin or poulet. Fantastic with burger too. Now in handy screw-cap. Get some, and don’t forget to lightly chill.
