The world hardly needs another wine book, unless of course it offers something new – a way to make the subject less intimidating and more customer friendly. Long time readers will know that simplifying wine has been a goal of mine. and over the years, I have experimented with concepts to eliminate confusion and angst. Since moving to Portugal, I’ve challenged myself to go further and create a formula, a method for this.

What I’ve done is re-thought wine along the same lines as its sister pleasure – music. Most people are comfortable with the just-do-it nature of selecting music. But wine is difficult because our heads are full of false beliefs foisted on us by the powers that be – the High Priests of Wine, as I like to call them. Rid yourself of their teachings and you’re halfway to more fun.
