Dolcetto and Barbera are two of the last outposts of traditional Italian red wines. Wines with flavours and feeling of the earth ““ unadorned with anything toasty, buttery or sweet. They combine the no-nonsense feeling of a taverna wine with something special. So invigorating and appetizing ““ feels like you could drink lots. Like a good painting, or jazz , there’s a great mix or tension, presence and imagination. I’d be buying cases if it we’re $12.95, but I’ll splurge for the spiritual experience of a wine that offers “˜realness’.
