Blooming Beautifully

We are a warm climate country, so you do not expect Spring flowering. But you’re wrong. Plants and flowers explode here in March and April. It started a few weeks ago when almond blossoms adorned the hillsides with beautiful white or pink colours. One morning this week I noticed a faint perfume on one of the streets lined with decorative orange trees. I looked up, and sure enough there were the blossoms. Oddly the trees are still laden with oranges. New growth along with old stuff – nature on steroids!

Giant daisies appear like weeds here. In hedge rows, on the roadside and on vacant land. Maybe they are weeds. Glory be to the weeds! For me the star of the season ranunculus. Shades of poppies but in many colours. Most of the city parks are currently ablaze with these guys. Just this morning I noticed a wisteria. OMG! I’m loving warm climate spring.
