Chenin Blanc is one of wines lesser travelled white varieties – with the exception of South Africa, and here in the County at Chadsey’s Cairns. Another strike against Chenin is a lack of clear identity, as producers craft in a variety of sugar levels – creating Riesling-like confusion.
This example is dry with zingy liveliness and edge – along with delicate spring-like flavours. The rush and purity of Spring air. To complete the show a slightly creamy texture cushions the sharpness. So you get edge, delicacy and comfort – think leather seats in your sports car. Think really good sparkling wine without the bubbles. Which makes sense as Chenin is the grape used for the great Sparkling wines of the Loire.
