Okay this is not a cheapie, but it is on sale! And comes in a screw cap. I’ve been drinking Cave’s Gamay ever since the winery opened and have to say it’s been an wonderful ride. Early vintages had the fruitiness/tartness of Beaujolais, and I recall a chefs’ lunch where it was pronounced “˜best partner for alfresco meals’. More recent vintages have become earthy/tangy/bitter and Barbera-ish in feeling ““ which is a common trait in Niagara Gamay. The 2013 vintage is certainly in the Italian camp ““ not for wimps. Excellent partner for pizza, pork loin or poulet. Fantastic with burger too. Now in handy screw-cap. Get some, and don’t forget to lightly chill.
