Italy Imitating Ontario!

I went to a tasting by the Santome Winery, from the Treviso region just north of Venice, and fell in love with two expensive reds. A Rosso (Bordeaux blend) that tasted like the best Niagara Meritage wines. The other wine was Rabosa, a regional speciality, that had the woodsy, wild character of Baco. A portion of the grapes were dried adding richness ““ but not taking from the wine’s overall balance. It had a wonderful presence.

At $39 a bottle these are outside my usual price territory, but maybe you are up for adventure, or splurge. Forty dollars get you house wine at a restaurant so why not pay that price for a high quality wine to enjoy at home? Both wines come in six packs and are available from Tre Amici
