House Red

CitraCheers Citra! My love affair with Citra’s Montepulciano is on again. After a few vintages when it was getting too American, as in smooth, I’m glad to find it’s back to basics. In other words it tastes and feels like a real Italian red ““ that you’d find at a real Italian restaurant. Medium bodied, tangy refreshing, and honest. A frank invitation to get some food on the table and celebrate everyday life. I like to give it a light chilling.

Apart from the attractive price, you gotta love the LCBO product number that suggests a take-away pizza joint. Did I mention having pizza with this wine!

P.S. Citra 13 Pinot Grigio ($8.75) is very close to bland/neutral.

CITRA 13 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Italy 446633 $7.75
