Traditionally, Vinho Verde was a blend of several grapes, but some wineries are starting to highlight single varieties. Verdes made from the Loureiro grape tend to be turbo charged, with delicate spring-like flavours. Green grass, and thoughts of asparagus. And you gotta love the textured “˜lace’ on the label. Wine writers are not supposed to mention these “˜commercial’ touches, but for me they are part of the experience. Hard to beat this offering of spring in a bottle.
