I tasted these wines a few weeks ago and as they’re not cheap, I wondered how to present them. They need a special occasion such as a romantic dinner –Valentines perhaps! Would be perfect. There’s so much to enjoy in all three wines – not the least of which is the true local expression – the bright flavours and light touch. Hopefully you’re into light touches!
Of course a romantic dinner-for-two doesn’t need three bottles but think about the fun of leftovers! The night after! Peller Estates premium wines are mainly sold only at the winery but did you know they can also be found at Peller’s supermarket boutiques called ‘Vineyards’. See here for locations: www.vineyards.ca Bringing home something different (you don’t need to mention supermarket) is sure to show you’re imaginative, as well as loving.
Peller’s Ice Cuvee Rosé use to be slightly sweet but it’s now crafted in a dry style. The addition of a splash of Icewine adds some richness. A Canadian classic for more than a decade, and a classy aperitif. It’s pink of course.
Sauvignon Blanc is not a big deal in Niagara but you may wonder ‘why not’ after tasting Peller’s wine. It’s lightly oaked in the Fumé style with pretty, exotic flavours and some richness. Seduction for sure. But pace yourself , there’s red to come.
Most romantics agree the Pinot Noir is the red wine of lovers, and Peller certainly delivers the sexy, charming feeling. Along with an earthy solidness. So the experience is not too gushy nice, but soulful too. Gotta do better than just nice.
I haven’t offered food suggestions as that can add stress to the day. Cook, or buy-in, what excites you and love should take care of the rest.
