RidgeRoadUP RIDGE ROAD TO NIAGARA’S MOST WESTERLY WINERY

Next time you’re headed down the QEW to wine country take an early exit on to 50 Road and drive south right to the top of the escarpment, looking for signs for Ridge Road Winery. It’s a genuine boutique place tastefully decorated in black and orange ““ with a cozy patio overlooking the vineyards. Winemaker/owner Sean Douglas graduated through the amateur ranks and his wines have my favourite “˜handcrafted/real’ character. I particularly enjoy the tart and wild Baco $14.95, and the peppery, rustic Gamay $15.95. Bistro-style reds for grilled red meats ““ especially sausages.
