TWO GREAT VALUES IN AUSSIE WHITES

Regular readers will know of my fondness for Deakin Estate’s Shiraz, and now there’s a white mate of similar quality and value. Expect exuberant freshness, moderate alcohol and flavor – and great drinkability. First rate house wine, even if you’re not a fan of Sauvignon Blanc.

Most Viogniers lean towards richness, but this guy’s offering is refreshment. And what delicious refreshment. Citrussy with a delicate perfume – as in the sweet scents of first flowers of Spring. Stylish aperitif or alfresco lunch partner.

DEAKIN ESTATE 17 Sauvignon Blanc, Australia 447060 $10.45

YALUMBA 16 Viognier ‘Y Series’ South Australia 470062 $13.95
