A winery owner once told me that his company invested a third of their budget on innovation. “It makes us creative, and means we are ready for new trends – maybe even creating one”. I love the concept and have always applied it to my wines purchases – one bottle in three is an experiment/adventure. A possible new friend!
Picpoul is a lot like medium-bodied, non-oaked Italian whites – feels satisfying in a low-keyed way. You pay more than Pinot Grigio because you get more – not fancy but shades of a hotel with better finishes. When we were in Ireland in June I noticed that Picpoul was on EVERY list. A trend has already started. Innovate!
