PLANNING for SUMMER APERITIFS with SUPERB DRY RIESLINGS
Some enjoy vodka for their cocktail hour ‘lift-off’ but I prefer the high voltage in Dry Riesling. It kicks-up the palate while delivering a tease of flavour to prime the palate for food. Elegance is another Dry Riesling feature, but that’s old fashioned stuff in this blockbuster era.
Thirty Bench has some of the oldest Riesling plantings in Ontario and their wines ooze limestone minerality. As in super dry and invigorating. The Aussie also has racing car zip – with a bright paint job.
THIRTY BENCH 13 Riesling, Niagara 24133 Vintages $18.95
MOUNTDAM 13 Riesling, Australia 288266 Vintages $19.95
P.S. The semi dry variety of Riesling has a different purpose – a charming partner for the low energy of summer afternoons on the dock, or deck. With Creekside’s wine you may think you’re sipping sunshine. Honest! Big gulps are okay because it’s low alcohol.
CREEKSIDE 14 Riesling, Niagara 443572 Vintages $19.95
