Really Good Locals under $15

Here’s a pair of really good, affordable locals that are available in most LCBOs.

Charmes Aligote (white) has been in my annual guide for over a decade and the 2010 vintage may be their best ever. Now all estate grown, it’s a shade fuller and drinking like a premium Pinot Grigio. Perfect for house wine. Check it out if you’re buying Santa Margarita at $15.

Charmes Gamay borders on raunchy. Certainly the most rustic local Gamay I’ve ever tasted. Not for everyone but a must-try for fans of the backroads. With a cheese and charcuterie platter, you’ll be in heaven.

CHATEAU DES CHARMES 10 Aligote, St. David’s Bench Vineyard, Niagara-on-the-Lake 296848 $13.55

CHATEAU DES CHARMES 09 Gamay Noir, VQA Niagara 57349 $12.55
