They’re up, they’re in the stores and they’re at your local market. Home-grown asparagus is one of my favourite local produce and it tastes even better with a BIG GLASS OF ZESTY SAUVIGNON BLANC! The vegetable and wine seem to share the same DNA! Honest. Crunchy, green freshness.
Normally I would be suggesting local wine with local asparagus. But the the current 07 crop is short on zest. No such problem with the New Zealand Monkey Bay – it’s loaded with zesty green freshness. A real blast. It was one of my faves at the recent New Zealand Wine Fair. More about that later.
