France Changes its Rules

France has given winemakers (those in VDP regions – mainly in the South) approval to make New World-style wine. Wood chips (for vanilla flavour) added tannin (for colour) and other ‘foreign’ techniques will now be tolerated. Will this change anything? No. Foreign techniques have been in use all along.
