New World regions use technology and winemaking tricks to create easy-drinking, light red wines, but for centuries the Beaujolais region has been doing it ‘naturally’. Thanks to their beloved, fruity Gamay grape, and a moderate climate. ‘Lightly chill the Beaujolais, and let the party begin’, has always worked for me. Beaujolais is also great for the first hour of the evening, and weekend lunches. At this price, I’m grabbing a little stock for summer picnics, parties, etc.

GEORGES DUBOEUF 15 Beaujolais-Villages, Burgundy, France 122077 $13.95 ($11.95 till Feb 29)
