Ontario’s best red wine role models are Pinot from Burgundy, and Cabernet Franc from the Loire. And nobody does the latter better than Chateau Des Charmes. One sip of this wine and you’re transported to a bistro in France. Solid, medium-bodied, non-flashy, non perfumed, non doctored – avoiding the sweet oaky, or green vegetal characteristics often found in CF. Equally good with red or white meats. But nor a party sipper.

CHATEAU DES CHARMES 15 Cabernet Franc, VQA Niagara on the Lake 162602 $15.95
