Traditionally, Vinho Verde was a blend of several grapes, but some wineries are starting to highlight single varieties. Verdes made from the Loureiro grape tend to be turbo charged, with delicate spring-like flavours. Green grass, and thoughts of asparagus. And you gotta love the textured ‘lace’ on the label. Wine writers are not supposed to mention these ‘commercial’ touches, but for me they are part of the experience. Hard to beat this offering of spring in a bottle.
