Backstreet Bistro Red

anjouDOING THE CLOCHER & LEARNING ABOUT CABERNET FRANC

Cabernet Franc produces Ontario’s best red wines so it makes senses to get acquainted with this varietal. Such as exploring the original from the Loire region in France. Especially as there is a really good example on the shelves of the LCBO.

Cab Franc is a shade leaner, drier and more rustic than its mate Sauvignon. It’s also less corporate and power hungry. Franc’s talent is refreshment, which comes with an appetizing edge, and the ability to satisfy with bistro foods. I call it back-street Cabernet ““ lots of vigour and personality. Good enough to be poured at all the back-street bistros in Paris. Take the trip. Lightly chill.
