A Pair of Jacks

Regular readers will know that I’m a huge Bruce Jack fan. He’s totally committed to his wines, his county and to telling us to “˜lighten-up and enjoy’. Get him alone in a bar and you will get a fascinating blast of philosophy, spirituality and common sense. Check his back labels and you’ll see what I mean.

LCBO Vintages is currently offering two of Jack’s wines at the reasonable price of $13.95 each. The Chenin is tart refreshment cushioned with a slight sweetness ““ best of both worlds. Fun wine for Summer ““ big thirst, parties, patio lunches, etc. According to Jack, Chenin grapes “giggle when you press them”. How can you resist!

The Sauvignon is also super fresh with the classic gooseberry flavour. Shares the same straight forward character, and gulpability as the Chenin. Check it out with goats cheese on a warm baguette, drizzled with olive oil. Both of these grapes originated from the Loire region in France and I love how Bruce has captured the pure expression of that region’s wines ““ perhaps with a touch more fun. The experience of these wines put me in mind of old Beatles songs ““ so simple but so good. A delight for sure.

P.S. If you’re looking for a mixed case of white refreshers to take to the cottage, I highly recommend this pair (maybe along another couple from a few weeks ago).
